Ze Germans are coming!

So often I feel embarrassed for being German, I guess because I always lived abroad and people would stereotype Germans as strict, tall, blond, blue-eyed and very serious. Well, when some (idiot) once asked me if Germans have fridges I asked him in turn if he ever heard of Bosch or Siemens. He had, and I asked him if those companies made refridgerators and if he knew that they were German.
Little did I know that a German actually INVENTED the fridge. Well, the first practical and patented fridge was made by Carl von Linde around 1890.

Then I looked up a few things and found out that the following are all German inventions:

printing press--Johannes Gutenberg in 1440

the first engine-powered car--Daimler Benz

first Diesel engine--Rudolf Diesel

X-Rays--Wilhelm Röntgen (Nice little anecdote: my great-aunt was his assistant but she developed radiation sickness from it. Still lived to be 92 years old!)

Aspirin--Felix Hoffmann

Blimps--Ferdinand Zeppelin

Decaffeination process--Ludwig Roselius

Sports shoes (adidas) --Adolf (adi) Dassler (HENCE the name, it's not all-day-I-dream-about-S*x as I was told as a kid!!!)

first scientific pregnancy test--Selmar Aschheim

MP3--Karlheinz Brandenburg and Bernhard Gill

Coffee filters--a woman named Melitta Benz whose husband complained about grains in the coffee. She would pour it through very fine linen to filter it and came up with coffee filters.

chip card--Helmut Gröttrup

the first functional computer EVER, called the Z3 was built by Konrad Zuse (German) in 1941!

So now, I don't feel so bad about my heritage-ha! What I do find ironic, is that the Germanic folk used to be these pagan woodspeople and the romans "civilized" them and taught them discipline.
Odd how nowadays the Italians are the lax ones and the Germans considered disciplined these days...

OMG! How could you ever have a complex about being German?????? They are the coolest Europeans. I would chose to be German if I could. They are so hot.
